Can I eat anything I want during my Invisalign treatment?

One of the main benefits of Invisalign is that it straightens your teeth without restricting your diet. You are free to to eat and drink all the things you love, as long as you're sure to take proper care of your clear aligners and follow the treatment plan set out by your dentist

Unlike metal braces (brackets and wires) that have a lot of restrictions, Invisalign clear aligners are removable, so there are no dietary restrictions.

It's true! Simply remove them to eat and drink whatever you want. Just be sure to clean them before putting them back in and wear them for the recommended amount of time each day.

Following Your Treatment Plan

Sticking to the treatment plan set out by your dentist is the key to getting the best results from your Invisalign treatment.

You can remove the aligners when eating or drinking, but be sure to wear them the recommended 20 to 22 hours per day.

Even though you can remove them, the idea is to keep them in your mouth as much as possible. You'll want to be aware of the total time you take them out each day so you can get at least 20 hours of daily wearing time in.

Taking Care of Your Aligners

After eating or drinking, you should put the aligners back in your mouth, but be sure to brush your teeth first. This regular practice helps avoid food particles from getting stuck between your teeth and your aligners, which can be damaging and cause tooth decay.

If you are unable to brush your teeth after you eat or drink, you should at least rinse your mouth and aligners with water and then put them back in.

Eating & Drinking With Invisalign

Cold water is the only thing you can drink while wearing your Invisalign aligners. You should never eat any foods or drinks other than water while wearing them.

That's because drinking sugary or dark drinks can lead to plaque build-up, and hot beverages like coffee and tea can warp, stain or discolour your aligners.
